MAT Review

On Thursday 8 November 2018, Chiquita Henson, Chief Executive, Martin Doidge, Finance Director and Graham Russell, Chair of Trustees, attended The Corinium Education Trust’s first MAT review with representatives from the Regional Schools Commissioner’s Office.

The meeting was held in Gloucester and provided the team with an opportunity to reflect on the progress The Corinium Education Trust has made since its inception. After a period of two years, our multi-academy trust opened as a partnership between three schools in April 2018 and expanded in September 2018 with our sponsorship of Chesterton Primary School.

At the review meeting discussions focused on education outcomes, finances, governance, leadership and potential growth. In preparation, Chiquita Henson had provided data to inform the review, a summary of the trust’s school improvement strategy and an initial evaluation of its impact.

Hannah Woodhouse, Deputy Director at the Regional Schools Commissioner’s Office, supported our approach to school improvement. She acknowledged its potential to yield excellent outcomes for young people in our local area.

The Corinium Education Trust’s Leadership Group meets fortnightly and Chiquita Henson is working closely with Karen Venner, Headteacher at Chesterton Primary School, and the Monitoring Action Group, led by Ken Buxton, former HMI, to bring about improvement to ensure all children in this school can achieve the best possible outcomes in reading, writing and maths as these will are foundation stones for lifelong learning and future success.
